Back In Your System

Hmm... I have been so stupidly incredibly busy I haven't had time to update this wretched thing for weeks! :(

I'm starting to try and get myself back up to date with my writing. I'm only 13000 words behind now (ha!) so it's not too bad. Trouble is, Zette at FM writers seems to be starting to wrap up the writing part of the 2yn course and am not even half wasy through yet. Help!

I also think I may be turning into Bridget Jones.

Nothing

Nothing much to report. I never seem to have time to post at the moment, which is why I've been quiet. I've had another cold as well and what with the hectic social life and all I haven't had time to get online for a week. And also my dear old PC is on its last legs.

I have barely had time to do any writing either. I am supposed to write 30,000 a month this year (unless revising or 'worldbuilding') and I only managed to write 22,000 in January. I know I push myself too hard so it ends up with writing being more like a chore but it's the only way I can get myself to do it.

I stole my fathers Doctor Who Magazine the other day so I could read the Matt Smith/ Karen Gillan interview, and I have to say from the sounds of it, the new series is going to be alright. Apparently it's 'Tim Burtonesque'. Although, I have to say I was confused by Karen Gillan in a policewoman's uniform - she is only 21 in real life. I didn't know they let them on the force that young, although that could explain why the country is in the state it's in? Unless they are having the actress portray someone older than she is, which is unusual. Perhaps there is a twist to it like she's a prostitute or it's fancy dress...

On that note, part 5 of The End of the Dream is up tonight and will stay up until Feb 11th. The link is below the blog title.

2010 continued...

Good lord, what a day. What a week. What a year! Power cuts, snow storms, weddings... is it nearly Christmas again yet?

I am so glad it's Friday. Apart from anything else, I can hopefully get a few quiet hours to do writing instead of having to rush around being everywhere at once. I've been doing something every weekend so far this year and I just want to have a day to chill out and relax and not have to be anywhere. I'm supposed to be going out tomorrow night, but I'll have to take it easy so I don't have a hangover.

The fourth part of The End of The Dream will be posted tonight (unless the lights go out again....) and will stay up until Jan 31st.

Writing Update

It's awful trying to write now I'm back at work after the holidays. Mind you, I don't think I did much writing over the holidays, so...

I've managed to keep up with my goal (you say resolution, I say no way) of writing an average of 1000 words a day. Trouble is, I tend to write 3000 words on a Sunday and then nothing for 2 or 3 days, but I'm getting there. I just need to get back into the swing of Dancing For Ribbons again.

I have posted the 3rd part of The End of the Dream (don't worry if you missed the chance to read this. I'm thinking of releasing it as a lulu book later in the year), which you can read here:

The End of the Dream part 3

January Blues

Urgh... how I long for the halcyon lazy days of Christmastime. :( It seems like such a long time ago now, when I could sleep when I wanted, eat when I wanted, and lie about in the house all day long watching the snow and thinking how beautiful it is.

Pah. It isn't beautiful when you have to go sliding and staggering about in it for half an hour to get to the station for work every day.

Back To Reality

This morning was fun. Staggered down the street trying to work out which bit of the snow/ice covered road was the least lethal. In three inch heels. Yeah, I'm stupid.

Managed to write 3950 words yesterday. Woowoo. I now have to find the motivation to try and finish the story today/tomorrow so that I can get back to writing Dancing for Ribbons.

That indefinable something....

I'm having one of those days today where I'm trying to find my soul. I somehow don't think I'll find it on Fanfiction.net, or Twitter, or Livejournal, but I can try.

Really need to do some writing. I'm psyching myself up to it. I kind of want to go and play in the snow, but I also kind of don't because it's cold. And tomorrow I have to go to work and interect with people and be sensible and businesslike and professional... urhhh.

The Tenth Doctor July 2005-January 2010

Rest in peace, number ten. You will be missed.

From what I have seen of the new Doctor Who, it looks as if Matt Smith is going to play the Doctor as even more manic than David Tennant ever did. And also that is going to turn into Doctor WHo meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I loved last night's episode. Totally corny and self congratulationary, especially the last 20 minutes, but I think, just this once Russell T Davies/David Tennant/et al deserved to have that moment. I may not be a fan of Mr Davies, but he has managed to turn Doctor Who into a phenomenon. I just hope the Stephen Moffat/Matt Smith combo doesn't ruin it.

I'm enjoying the last two days of my holiday, staying in the warm, watching Spirited Away. I am tempted to go in the garden and make a snow TARDIS or something... that would be so cool.

2010 (so far)

I don't really 'do' new year. I always find it slightly depressing because everyone is another year older, and it's a reminder that I haven't achieved any of the things I wanted to do in 2009 (well, ok, I've managed a few of them, like I didn't get sacked in 2009, and I've managed to keep writing although I haven't had anything published or been paid for anything yet) so I'm not even going to bother making any resolutions for this year at all. What happens, happens. What doesn't happen, doesn't happen. Simples.

But it's been a good day. I've finished writing my parody of last weeks episode of Doctor Who, watched Gavin and Stacey, worked on some ideas for my parody for tonights episode of Doctor Who (possibly to be published here). I've even managed to find time to read some of my Thinking Sideways course.

:( back to my life next week. I'll have to go to work and socialize with my friends and relations. I won't be so cheerful then, let me tell you.

By the way, chapter 2 of The End of the Dream will be left up until the 5th, so this is your last chance to read it.

Out Of Hiding

I know I haven't updated this thing for ages. I've had a very bad cold. But I am seriously enjoying my week and a half of lazing around doing nothing. I'm making the most of it, as the chances are that next year the company I work for won't let us have the 'in between' days off between Xmas and new year. Boo. :(

In other news, I have decided to write another Doctor Who parody, in honour of David Tennant's last story. I need to get round to posting the entire series on this blog at some point (possibly back dated so they don't show up on the main page).
